Two experts from Veolia Water Technologies are scheduled to present at RASTech 2019, a technical conference and tradeshow serving the emerging recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) sector.
Aquaculture expert, Dr. Frédéric Gaumet, will be presenting a paper entitled, “Optimized design for large production.” His presentation will discuss how to design for and increase energy efficiency within a RAS facility. Energy is a leading operational expense at a large-scale aquaculture facility. Engineering a facility with elements intended to reduce energy consumption can significantly improve operational costs and profitability.
Also presenting at the event is Veolia aquaculture specialist, Chuck Blumenschein. Blumenschein will present the paper: “Maximizing operational efficiency, biosecurity, and growth rates through innovative RAS facility design.” Blumenschein will discuss some of the challenges facing inland aquaculture industry as it continues to evolve and grow in scale. His presentation will focus on how RAS system design and impacts the success of a facility.
“The design of a recirculating aquaculture facility directly affects the health of the fish living inside of it,” said Blumenschein. He adds, “There is a critical ‘cause and effect’ relationship—the more a facility’s design is able to limit fish stress, the faster they are able to grow. This results in increased production output and economic viability.”
In addition to these technical presentations, Veolia will be exhibiting its portfolio of recirculating aquaculture technologies, including the RAS2020™, Veolia’s modular RAS designed to reduce capital costs, maximize production, minimize operating costs, and improve sustainability.
The 2019 RASTech Conference and Trade Fair is focused on the education of recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Formerly the International Conference on Recirculating Aquaculture (ICRA), RAStech 2019 is the venue for learning, networking and knowledge sharing on RAS technologies, design, and implementations across the world. The event will be held on May 13-14, 2019 in Washington DC.
